2026 scale
M-05 · Air-to-water heat pump (≤ 70 kW)
Single-family home or output ≤ 15 kW
CHF 5,000
M-05 · Air-to-water heat pump (≤ 70 kW)
Other buildings and output > 15 kW
CHF 400/kW
M-06 · Ground-source or water-to-water heat pump (≤ 70 kW)
Single-family home or output < 20 kW
CHF 20,000
M-06 · Ground-source or water-to-water heat pump (≤ 70 kW)
Output > 20 kW
CHF 4,000 + CHF 800/kW
IP-19 · Hydronic distribution network
Creating a heating network, for example when replacing electric radiators
Separate measure
Connection to an anergy network: M-05 and M-06 amounts reduced by 50%. The subsidised output is capped at 50 W per m² of energy reference area before the work.
Worked example
Fictitious example: a single-family home heated with oil, whose thermal study sets the need at 10 kW.
Any municipal grants and the tax deduction come on top of these amounts. Geothermal costs more to buy: see the prices on our geothermal page before comparing.
Conditions
The heat pump replaces main heating running on oil, natural gas or fixed electric resistance. New buildings are not eligible.
After the work, heating and domestic hot water must be fully covered by renewable energy, including hot water during the heating season.
The envelope must be rated A to E, or A to C above 1,000 m altitude for an air-to-water heat pump. The CECB® is updated after the work.
Up to 15 kW, the heat pump is installed to the heat pump system module standard. Above that, a SwissEnergy performance guarantee and a quality label. For geothermal, the driller must hold the GSP label.
Procedure
Output calculation, choice of technology and, for a building from before 2000, a CECB® drawn up or updated.
Form signed by the owner, detailed quote, system module certificate or performance guarantee, CECB®, and for geothermal the quote of the GSP-labelled driller.
The cantonal energy directorate reviews the file. Nothing is ordered or delivered before its written decision.
Order and installation once the grant is approved. If your municipality pays a grant, its application is filed in parallel.
Completion notice on the same portal, with paid invoices, the commissioning report and the updated CECB®. The canton then pays the grant.
Frequently asked questions
CHF 5,000 for an air-to-water heat pump in a single-family home (M-05), CHF 20,000 for a geothermal or water-to-water heat pump in a single-family home (M-06). For other buildings, M-05 pays CHF 400 per kW above 15 kW and M-06 pays CHF 4,000 + CHF 800 per kW above 20 kW.
Yes. The application must be approved before any order, delivery or start of work. Equipment delivered on site before the grant decision disqualifies the application.
No. M-05 and M-06 fund the replacement of oil, natural gas or fixed electric resistance heating in an existing building.
A CECB® with an envelope rated A to E, or A to C above 1,000 m altitude for an air-to-water heat pump. If the envelope is rated F or G, insulation is needed before the application can be filed.
Yes. Several Vaud municipalities pay their own grants, with amounts and budgets that change from one year to the next. Check with your municipality's energy department before signing.
Yes, the net investment after grants is deductible from taxable income as an energy-saving investment. Your accountant can tell you which tax year to attach it to.
