The Chablais, straddling Vaud and Valais, combines a sunny Rhône plain with renowned mountain resorts. We work here on both the villas and buildings of the plain (Aigle, Bex, Monthey, Collombey) and the chalets of Villars, Leysin or Gryon, where snow and cold change the technical equation. Our experience of both cantons lets us handle the paperwork on the Vaud side as well as the Valais side.

Local context
A well-exposed Rhône plain, with good sunshine and the foehn effect (warm southerly wind): solar output of 1000 to 1100 kWh/kWp on the plain. At altitude (Villars, Leysin, Gryon), sunshine can be excellent, but snow loads and cold call for reinforced mounting and specific heat pump sizing.
A strong contrast between the plain — individual homes, vineyards (Yvorne, Ollon) and large industrial sites (Monthey, the CIMO zone; Aigle) — and the mountain chalets of the resorts. The steeply pitched chalet roofs, often in shingles or tiles, require suitable mounting systems and careful attention to snow guards.
On the Vaud side: Romande Energie and local utilities. On the Valais side: Valais grid operators (OIKEN and partners). Permit procedures differ between Vaud and Valais — we tailor the file to the canton concerned. Connection times: 4 to 8 weeks.
I.ON advice
In Villars, Leysin or Gryon, snow loads are significant. We use oversized mounting systems and snow guards to secure the installation. Well installed, mountain PV produces remarkably well thanks to snow albedo and cold air, which improves module efficiency.
For a chalet occupied in winter at altitude, a ground/water (geothermal) heat pump keeps an excellent COP even in deep cold, where an air/water pump can struggle below -10°C. The extra investment is repaid by performance and comfort.
The industrial zones of Monthey, Aigle and Collombey have large flat rooftops well suited to high-volume daytime self-consumption — an investment often repaid in under 8 years.
2026 subsidies
Federal grant for any new PV installation: around 320-380 CHF/kWp for small systems (<30 kWp), paid once after commissioning. For an 8 kWp system: ~3,000 CHF.
Depending on whether your property is on the Vaud side (Aigle, Bex, Ollon) or the Valais side (Monthey, Collombey, Saint-Maurice), cantonal subsidies for PV and heat pumps differ. We identify the right programme and prepare the file matching your municipality.
The net cost after subsidies is deductible from taxable income as an energy investment in both cantons. The saving depends on your marginal rate and stacks with subsidies.
